CHEMICAL manufacturer D and L Industries Inc. (DNL) earned the designation of “Most Honored Company in Asia” by New York-based Institutional Investor magazine in its 2017 All-Asia Executive Team survey.
DNL President Alvin Lao, meanwhile, was ranked as the top chief executive in the emerging-market category, followed by Lance Gokongwei of Universal Robina Corp. as second. Ernest Cu of Globe Telecom Inc. came in at third.
“This is a wonderful achievement for the entire team, which would not have been possible without the support of DNL’s management,” Lao said in a statement. “We have the utmost respect for our minority shareholders and will continue our efforts to maintain an IR program that is engaging, informative and transparent.”
DNL, which supplies raw materials to big companies, was also ranked among the top in a list of over 2,500 Asian companies nominated for outstanding corporate leadership and investor relations.
The magazine surveyed more than 3,900 investment professionals at 980 financial services firms. This includes buy-side analysts, money managers and sell-side researchers at securities firms and financial institutions that cover Asia. Respondents from the buy side manage approximately $1.5 trillion in Asian equities.
Companies were ranked based on various aspects of investor relations and corporate governance. These include having accessible senior executives, providing timely and appropriate financial disclosure, having a well informed and empowered investor relations team, responding quickly and thoroughly to requests, hosting the most constructive conference calls and meetings and providing the highest quality corporate document and investor kit materials.
Meanwhile, DNL’s investor relations program was ranked third in the country. Metro Pacific Investments Corp. was at the top of the ranking in the category, while URC was at second.
