MUNTINLUPA City Mayor Jaime R. Fresnedi led last Friday the inauguration of the P101.5-million Plaza Central in Poblacion as part of his administration’s thrust to bring services closer to the public.
“The city government wants everyone to have access in our services as we are the government of the people and for the people,” he said during the opening ceremony graced by other state officials.
Standing three stories high, the City Hall’s extension building will be housing the Cultural and Tourism Development Office, Muntinlupa Scholarship Program Office, Joint Resources Financing Program Office (Dagdag Puhunan), City Library, Public Order and Safety Office (POSO), Boy Scout of the Philippines Muntinlupa Chapter and the Colegio de Muntinlupa extension office.
Plaza Central stands exactly at the location that used to be the site of Contessa Building—the old municipal hall—where most people converge.
Following this project, Fresnedi vows to continue developing avenues for local government programs to be more accessible to his constituency.
Of late, Muntinlupa is home to the extension offices of national agencies. These include the Philippine Statistics Authority, National Bureau of Investigation, Commission on Elections in Starmall Alabang and Department of Foreign Affairs-South in Metro Gaisano Mall.
Some satellite offices will be transferring and be locating to Ayala Malls South Park, such as the Bureau of Internal Revenue and Philippine Regulatory Commission.
Other local government infrastructure projects expected to open soon are the baklad-inspired Muntinlupa Museum in Tunasan, Colegio de Muntinlupa (higher learning institute for engineering, science and technology) in Sucat, Cupang Senior High School, new Muntinlupa City Public Market and the Liwasan ng mga Bayani (Freedom Park) in Alabang.
