AT the rate they are putting away their opponents, it seems, there is no stopping the Flying V Thunders from clinching the top seed heading to the playoffs.
The Thunders remain as the only unbeaten team in the Philippine Basketball Association Developmental League Foundation Cup with five victories, a record they will try to uphold on Thursday when they face the Tanduay Rhum Masters.
Flying V coach Eric Altamirano wasn’t exactly pleased with their effort the last time out and is keeping his fingers crossed that his troops would play better than they did in a 94-86 win against Racal Motors last Monday.
“Our starters struggled. The good thing was out bench stepped up and delivered,” observed Altamirano while noting their inconsistency on defense as well as their offensive flaws against the Alibaba.
“We made stops in the end game, but our inconsistencies on both ends are very noticeable,” he said.
Range against a team that is as solid as their bench, the Thunder could find their hands full to keep their unblemished record.
The Rhum Masters are also on a winning streak, putting together a string of three consecutive wins after an 89-63 loss to the Cignal Hawkeyes to open their campaign in the league’s season ending tournament.
Game time is 5 p.m. at the Ynares Arena in Pasig City. It follows the 3 o’clock matchup pitting Cignal (6-2) and Team Batangas (4-1).
