CIGNAL and Wang’s Basketball—two teams with a mini winning streak—face off on Thursday in the elimination round of the Philippine Basketball Association Developmental League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Arena in Pasig City.
Well-rested after a nine-day break, the Hawkeyes try to stretch their winning streak to four games to stay in the top four in the team standings.
Cignal played its first seven games through three weeks, coming out of the demanding schedule with 5-2 record that gets the approval of coach Boyet Fernandez.
“We still have a lot of room for improvement though. Right now, we just have to be consistent and avoid being complacent,” Fernnadez offered.
The Hawkeyes have lost a significant piece in their drive for a second championship with Davon Potts leaving the team to rejoin the San Beda Red Lions in their title repeat bid in the coming National Collegiate Athletic Association wars.
The other game at 5 p.m. pits Centro Escolar University (2-2) against hard-lucked AMA Online Education (0-4).
After a 0-2 start, the Scorpions bounced back by winning their last two games against Batangas and Zark’s Burger.
