CEBU City’s Marc Nicole Suson continued his winning ways in the recent Baybay City leg of the Cebuana Lhuillier Age Group Tennis Championship Series with Leyte’s pride Anica Giorgia Cari sharing the limelight.
Suson who beat Stephen Zion Guia in the 16-under final, 6-1, 6-0, and annexed the 18-under crown at the expense of the same opponent also with the same score, emerged as the one of the most successful players in the tournament backed by Dunlop.
Cari disposed of another local bet, Mariniel Gorgonio, 7-5, 6-0 in the 16-under championship and 6-1, 6-0 in the 18-under final to also win two crowns.
“Suson is playing consistently at a high level and it will be sooner than later that he makes his mark at the national level,” said Jean Henri Lhuillier, president and CEO of Cebuana Lhuillier.
Zamboanga del Norte’s Aaron Jacque Geromo won the boys’ 14-under title after defeating Ozamiz City’s Ashton Benne Villanueva, 6-3, 7-5, while Leyte’s Sal Andrie Eugenio topped the 12-under class after downing Maasin’s Ruzzel bert Manlimos, 6-2, 6-1.
Baybay City’s Manuel Jocson blanked Ormoc City’s Benedicto Lambonao, 6-0, 6-0, to capture the 10-under crown.
Selena Monique Olo of Sogod, Leyte, defeated Aliyah Bandalan, 7-6, 9-7, 6-3, to capture the 14-under tiara and another Baybay City player, Aeesha Bandalan, copped the 12-under title at the expense of Sogod’s Neous Elna Beronio, 7-5, 1-6, 10-8.
Aeesha and Aliyah Bandalan teamed up to win the girls’ 16-under doubles crown, beating Beronio and Olo, 8-7, and Cari partnered with Ma. Melrose Duran in defeating Giorgonio and Katrina Lufranco, 8-5, in the 15-under championship.
Johwee Sam Bernales and Paulo Loreto edged Jules Cari and Joshua Ramon Torres, 8-6, to rule the boys’ 18-under doubles final and JM Basala and Franco Nero Nunez posted an 8-6 win over Villanueva and Geromo for the 14-under title.
