PHILIPPINE club teams Global-Cebu and Ceres-Negros resume their Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup 2017 campaigns when they take on separate opponents in different venues tonight.
Ceres-Negros fights for survival against Group G leader Hanoi Football Club of Vietnam at the Pana-ad Park and Football Stadium in Bacolod City at 7:30 p.m.
Global-Cebu, on the other hand, tries to solidify its grip of the Group F lead when it takes on Magwe FC of Myanmar at the Youth Training Center in Yangon at 3:30 p.m. (Manila time).
The Filipino clubs encountered mixed fortunes in their previous outings.
Global escaped with a nail-biting 3-2 victory over Malaysia’s Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) on April 5 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium to regain the No. 1 spot in Group F with nine points. The team is two points clear of JDT Beoungket Angkor FC of Cambodia.
Ceres, however, has its back against the wall in Group G where it shares second place with five points with Felda United of Malaysia, which handed the Bacolod-based club a 0-3 beating at the Shah Alam Stadium two weeks ago.
Felda United will also try to keep its campaign alive when it hosts Tampines Rovers tonight.
Global and Ceres should rule their groups to advance to the knockout stages. The top two teams in each group will qualify for the zonal semifinals.
