Have a dash cam, get a discount.
One of the country’s most trusted insurers is offering a 10-percent discount on insurance premium for car owners who have an in-car video camera or dash cam in their vehicles.
Fortune General Insurance (FGen Insurance made this announcement in a recent sales rally and marketing campaign launch.
FGen Insurance President and COO Michael Rellosa said the dash cam discount is open to all vehicles, regardless of make or model, that will avail of comprehensive insurance from FGen.
“This is our way of promoting road safety and supporting the advocacy of our new endorser, Mr. James Deakin,” Rellosa said. “A dash cam tells us that a car owner is safety-conscious. The dash cam also allows us to process claims faster since it will provide us with a proof of what happened.”
FGen recently signed up Deakin, an automotive journalist and TV host, to be the face of FGen, giving the 62-year-old company a fresh and dynamic look.
Deakin said he trusted FGen after learning of its history and the character of its founder, the late Ambassador Antonio Cabangon Chua, who rose from being a shoeshine boy to owner of numerous businesses.
“Integrity is the most important trait people look for in my profession, and this is the same thing I look for in an insurance company. I trusted FGen because of its integrity and the integrity of its owners. It is a company that I can trust,” Deakin said.
FGen Chairman Jesus Antonio Cabangon Jr. praised Deakin for his trust on FGen. He said the CNN Philippines anchor will definitely allow FGen to reach out to younger car owners who are all technology-savvy and are looking for an insurer that understands their needs.
“FGen continuously evolves to remain relevant to the times,” he said.
Deakin is a staunch advocate of dash cam use. He pushed for the mandatory use of speed limiters in trucks and buses, a move that eventually led to a law.
FGen’s Vice President for Marketing Manny Maloles said those wanting to avail themselves of the dashcam discount need only show proof they have one fitted on their vehicle. “A selfie photo with the dash cam on their car will do,” he said.
This early, FGen’s dash cam discount and its new endorser are making positive noise for the Pasig-based insurer.
FGen Vice President for Underwriting Christopher Marquez said moments after announcing Deakin’s endorsement, the FGen web site immediately received a stream of inquiries for the dashcam discount.
