NATIONAL Police Director General Ronald M. dela Rosa ordered on Monday for an inventory of all illegal drugs at the PNP-Crime Laboratory in Camp Crame, following the recent arrest of a crime-laboratory official in a drug-pot session.
Dela Rosa ordered the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM), headed by Director Augusto Marquez, to conduct the inventory.
Aside from conducting physical inventory of seized illegal drugs, the PNP chief also instructed the DIDM to test the items.
“I am directing the director of the DIDM to conduct an inventory of all evidence under the custody of the crime lab. Please check, sir. Baka mamaya, puro tawas naka-deposit doon, ha,” dela Rosa said. “Review also to determine kung tawas or totoo talaga.”
The PNP chief made the order following last week’s arrest of Supt. Lito Cabamongan, former chief of the Crime Laboratory Satellite Office in Muntinlupa City, during a pot session in Las Piñas City.
Cabamongan, who claimed he was a “deep-penetration agent” on a mission against illegal-drugs syndicates when arrested, implicated several PNP officers allegedly involved in the illegal-drugs trade.
Dela Rosa said the PNP is now looking at Cabamongan’s allegations. He, however, said the PNP is not taking Cabamongan’s pronouncements “hook, line and sinker”.
He said the suspect was high on drugs when he made the statements.
Initial drug-testing on Cabamonga yielded positive results. Confirmatory test will be conducted this week.
Dela Rosa said Cabamongan will be subjected to summary dismissal proceedings if the confirmatory testing on him will turn out positive.
