THE city of Cebu officially launched on Wednesday its Infocast program with Smart Communications Inc. to strengthen its communication strategies and disaster-preparedness efforts.
Smart Infocast is a Web-based communications solution that allows the city to send warnings, advisories, preparedness tips and important announcements to over 25,000 subscribers daily. The platform is free for Smart, Sun Cellular and Talk ’N’ Text subscribers.
Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña and executives of Smart from Manila attended the event held at the City Hall.
These included Ramon R. Isberto, head for Smart’s Public Affairs Group; Maria Jane C. Paredes, center head/AVP of Smart’s Public Affairs Group; and Gabby Cui, head of the SME Community Engagement Services.
Osmeña thanked Smart for providing a free platform to the Cebu City government to help in information dissemination—especially during disasters, emergencies and other important events.
The launch was also conducted during the regular meeting with the Cebu Association of City and Municipal Public Information Officers hosted by the Cebu City government on the same day.
