TEAM Batangas smothered Cafe France, 91-69 on Monday to close out its campaign in the Philippine Basketball Association Developmental League Aspirants Cup on a positive note at the JCSGO gym in Cubao Quezon City..
The Batanguenos dominated from start to finish and led by as many as 25 points.
Joseph Sedurifa and Rolda Sara shared scoring honors with 16 points for Batangas, which finished its campaign at seventh spot with a 4-6 record.
“We definitely got something from this and we did what we’re talking about all conference long, that we need to keep on improving,” Batangas coach Eric Gonzales said.
Cedrick Ablaza scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds while Joey Lascano had 12 points and six boards for Batangas, which ended its campaign by winning three of its last four games.
Batangas took advantage of the Bakers’ uninspired game to build a 52-32 advantage at halftime. The lead grew to as many as 72-47 in the third quarter.
With nothing at stake, Cafe France coach Egay Macaraya opted to rest his key players for the playoffs.
The Bakers pulled within 76-63 with 5:41 left in the fourth but Sedurifa hit two huge treys to keep Cafe France at bay.
Calisaan showed the way for Cafe France with 14 points and eight rebounds while Oliver Arim had 13 points and three boards.
