This holiday season the spirituality of giving is very much alive as celebrities and their friends shared their blessings on the first Caritas Manila’s “Celebrity and Friends Preloved Luxury Brands Sale” on December 13 to 14 at Glorietta 5 Atrium, Ayala Center, Makati City.
All items, such as designer clothes, shoes, accessories and bags, and toys owned by various celebrities and their friends, will be sold at up to 80-percent off during the bazaar. Among the celebrity donors are Kris Aquino, Anne Curtis-Smith, Vice Ganda, Sarah Geronimo, Toni Gonzaga-Soriano, Iza Calzado, Derek Ramsay, Ruffa Gutierrez, Julia Montes, Dra. Vicki Belo, Hayden Kho, Scarlet Snow Belo, Cristalle Belo-Pitt, Bang Pineda, Tim Yap, Katrina Ponce Enrile, Team Kramer (Doug, Cheska, Kendra, Scarlett and Gavin), Bamboo, Sam YG, Teacher Georcelle of the G-Force, Denise Laurel, JC Intal and Fashion Pulis, and Michael Sy Lim.
During the event, Youth Servant Leadership and Education Program (YSLEP) scholars, Gawad Kalinga Tatalon Choir and La Salle Green Hills’s Kundirana, the most renowned high-school singing group in the Philippines, will render special performances and sing Christmas carols.
Caritas Manila Chairman and the Archbishop of Manila Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle aims to make this celebrity charity sale an annual event to celebrate the spirit of Christmas by sharing God’s #LoveInAbundance to the poor.
Proceeds of the bazaar, including the entrance fee of P250 per person, will go to Caritas Manila’s YSLEP, which aims to provide quality education for the poor.
YSLEP is the flagship program of Caritas Manila, which extends financial assistance to poor, but deserving, youth, and trains and hones the youth not only for academic excellence, but also to become servant leaders and good members of the community.
There are currently more than 5,000 youth nationwide under Caritas YSLEP. With over 4 million out-of-school children and youth in the Philippines, YSLEP aims to reach out to this vulnerable sector, especially in the poorest areas of the Visayas and Mindanao.
Caritas Manila is the Archdiocese of Manila’s lead social services and development ministry. Apart from YSLEP, Caritas Manila runs diverse projects that help the poor fulfill their human potential, such as the All is Well Health Program, Restorative Justice Ministry, Caritas Damayan and social-entrepreneurship programs Caritas Margins and Segunda Mana.
