FOR winning five prestigious awards from the recently concluded 63rd Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference held at Camp John Hay in Baguio City, OceanaGold (Philippines) Inc. (OGPI) remains one of the safest and environment-friendly mining companies in the country today.
The Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA) awarded OGPI first place for the Safest Mineral Processing—Concentrator Category. OGPI also bagged first place for the Safest Mining Operation—Metallic Category and first place Overall Surface Mining Operation.
Most prestigious of all was the Presidential Mineral Industry Environment Award (PMIEA) for Surface Mining Operation from President Duterte. Last year the same was conferred on OGPI by former President Benigno S. Aquino III “in recognition of its overall excellence in environmental, safety, health management and community development in the conduct of its mining operation.” The Australian mining firm also received Third Place for Best Mining Forest—Metallic Category.
Last summer, during the eigth Annual Global CSR Summit and Awards 2016 in Bali, Indonesia, among the number of entries around the world, OGPI was accorded the Gold Award for the Best Workplace Practices.
