WIDUS International Leisure (WILI), owner of Widus Hotel and Casino with Renaissance Hotels International Corp. Ltd., the company behind the successful chain of Marriott Hotels, celebrated the groundbreaking of the first international five-star hotel north of Manila held on November 10.
Rising on a 6,000-square-meter land beside Widus, the new Marriott in Clark will consist of 260 rooms in a 16-story tower, sophisticatedly designed to serve the millennial and high-end market. Presiding over the groundbreaking ceremony were Daesik Han, president and CEO of WILI, together with Marriott International Inc.’s Director for Hotel Development Baldwin Chua and Senior Director for Asset Management of Asia Pacific Rohit Singh.
“We are raising the hospitality bar anew,” Han said. “Today’s milestone brings us one step closer to opening the new infrastructure venture with Marriott that will better serve the local and international community. We are very excited with the prospects of this development and to the growth it can bring to the tourism industry and the overall economy of Clark,” he said.
The South Korean businessman also said the new establishment aims to employ and train local manpower alongside sourcing supplies and services requirements from local businesses.
Staged to be an epitome of opulence, Marriott at Clark represents the latest and most innovative hotel within the Widus complex, a final cap to its vision of being the preferred one-stop leisure destination. It would be the third Marriott-branded hotel in the Philippines, aside from the Marriott hotel in Manila and the Marriott hotel in Cebu.
The $70-million property will feature the usual Marriott facilities, such as Goji kitchen and bar, great room, pool bar, executive lounge, ballroom and meeting places. The prestigious project is expected to be completed by the first or second quarter of 2018.
