THE Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) will once again hold its annual Students’ PR Congress and Grand Prix on Nov. 12-13 at the Henry Sy, Sr. Hall of De La Salle University in Manila.
For more than a decade now, the PRSP has been organizing the annual Students’ PR Congress and Grand Prix for students in the fields of communications, advertising and media. The event gives students a look at current industry practices, trends, issues and concerns, and provides a venue for them to apply what they have learned in the classroom to the actual work environment. The inter-school competition component also trains students in preparing an actual communication plan.
The theme for this year centers on youth education, specifically the Department of Education’s and National Youth Commission’s Abot Alam National Program for Out-of-School Youth, a nationwide inter-agency convergence effort that seeks to locate out-of-school youth and enroll them in program interventions in education, entrepreneurship, and employment.
An estimated 300 students from various colleges and universities nationwide are expected to attend the two-day event entitled “PR 4 YOUth: Empower through Education.” The first day will feature speakers from government, the academe, media and the corporate sector who will share insights about issues and trends in the practice of public relations and communications as well as youth-related issues. The second day is the competition proper where finalists from schools and universities around the country will present their PR campaigns to select judges.
Partners of the event include DLSU’s AdCreate Society and Junior Entrepreneur’s Marketing Association or JEMA, Cemex Holdings Philippines, Ayala Land Inc., Globe Telecom, Maynilad Water Services and the Systembrand Group.
