ORACLE Corp. announced on October 26 a series of major innovations across its cloud platform.
One of these is the firm’s new database that Oracle said “is being made available in the Cloud first, providing businesses of all sizes with access to the database technology in a Cloud environment.”
Oracle also unveiled enhancements and tools for all application development models, including simplified migration and extension of enterprise workloads in the Cloud, tools for Cloud native and low-code development.
Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) enhancements unveiled also include 19 new Cloud services.
The announcements by Oracle come at a time “when many organizations have found themselves wanting to leverage the cost and simplicity of the Cloud but have yet to make the move.”
“Concerns about security, scale and complexity, uncertain migration paths, fragmented toolsets and inconsistent user experiences have left many businesses sitting on the sidelines in search of a Cloud offering with the on-premise-grade capabilities enterprise IT requires,” Oracle’s statement read.
International Data Corp. PaaS Research Manager Larry Carvalho has said that a “new set of easily consumable cloud services is accelerating the ability to build and deliver new functionality.”
“Rapid growth and the availability of low-cost cloud infrastructure is bringing new challenges to outdated business models by start-ups building innovative solutions challenging legacy businesses,” Carvalho added.
