UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas (UST) tries to seal a semifinals berth as it tangles with a tough Bureau of Customs (BOC) side in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Collegiate Conference on Saturday at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan City.
The Tigresses shoot for their fifth straight victory to formally make it to the semifinals against the Transformers in the 4 p.m. collision in the season-ending conference sponsored by Shakey’s.
Pocari Sweat, another title favorite in the league backed by Mikasa as official ball and Accel as official outfitter, guns for its second win in three games as it battles University of the Philippines (1-2) at 2 p.m. to be aired live over ABS-CBN Sports + Action Channel 17 or 23 and via streaming on www.sports.abs-cbn.com and www.v-league.ph, according to the organizing Sports Vision.
The Tigresses are the youngest in the field and, despite playing without an import, they are the hottest team so far, beating club teams Air Force, Coast Guard and BaliPure, as well as fellow college team UP, with a form that makes them look prime for the crown.
UST Head Coach KungFu Reyes is satisfied with their hot start, but he wants his wards—led by EJ Laure, Carla Sandoval, Ria Meneses, Chloe Cortez and Cherry Rondina—to remain consistent for the rest of the tournament.
“Momentum and luck are on our side, so we have to sustain our form,” Reyes said.
Cignal, meanwhile, tries to bounce back from its setback to Air Force last Monday, as it tangles with Champion Supra at 12:30 p.m. in the Spikers’ Turf Season 2 Reinforced Conference, also at PhilSports.
