PASAY CITY—Cebu Pacific (CEB) Vice President for Marketing and Distribution Candice Alabanza Iyog said their hub at the Clark International Airport (CRK) in Pampanga “remains important,” but the Philippines’s leading airline will not yet launch new flights at one of the busiest airports in the country.
Iyog, who was interviewed at the Resorts World Manila on Wednesday during the awarding ceremony of CEB’s Juan For Fun Backpacker Challenge, said what they will instead launch next week are three new local flights via the Mactan-Cebu International Airport. She refused to name the specific destinations as of press time.
Iyog said they have no plans yet to add flights other than the three international destinations and one local flight.
CEB, the first Filipino-owned airline to launch local and international flights at the CRK, flies to Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore and Cebu. It used to have regular flights to Bangkok, Thailand, but these were rescinded.
Last month Pampanga-based businessman Bong Alvaro of the Midori Hotel and Casino in Clark reportedly visited the CEB main office to lobby for the launch of regular flights to Taiwan via the CRK.
The CRK registered an 8-percent increase in the volume of passengers in the first four months of 2016 compared to the same period last year.
CEB has 34 local destinations and 30 international routes. It maintains hubs in Manila, Cebu, Clark, Kalibo, Iloilo and Davao.
