LENOVO Corp. announced on May 10 the company’s strategic technology conference will bring together some of the industry’s top leaders to San Francisco, US, on June 9. These leaders are expected to probe the most promising and emerging topics in innovation, including virtual reality, smart-connected devices and Internet of Things and harnessing the power of the cloud to transform people’s lives. Lenovo Chairman and CEO Yang Yuanqing will deliver the keynote address.
In a statement, the company said it plans to launch during the conference launch the world’s first consumer Project Tango-enabled smartphone in partnership with Google. Project Tango brings augmented reality to the smartphone, including gaming, navigation and other utilities. According to Lenovo, the device would enable users, among other activities, to perform indoor mapping, create a 3D gaming environment and visualize how a new refrigerator fits into a kitchen.
Lenovo will also announce new mobile technology designed by Motorola that will dramatically change the way people think about and use their most personal devices.
“Innovation is at the heart of everything we do,” Yuanqing was quoted in the statement as saying. “Lenovo is no longer just a PC or smartphone company.”
According to Yuanqing, the company “will play a role in developing new smart devices, delivering the smart connectivity required to enable new services and experiences, and providing the infrastructure that makes the new connected world possible.”
He said the firm will also share a glimpse of some of the most interesting technology concepts from its labs.
