THE Nordic Business Council of the Philippines (NBCP) recently held its annual Northern Lights dinner and awards night in Makati City.
During the event, the NBCP had ABS-CBN Foundation Chairperson Gina Lopez discussing developments in the country’s ecotourism and their foundation’s social entrepreneurship campaign.
At the same time, the NBCP gave recognition to Nordic companies that have made outstanding contributions in the country.
NBCP president Bo Lundqvist described the dinner and awards night as one of their highlight events for the year.
He said with almost 100 member companies, the NBCP is a platform of partnership between the Philippines and Nordic countries.
“We will continue to push for foreign direct investments into the country and creation of new jobs. We will also continue to provide support to the local community.
Meanwhile, Lopez, during her speech highlighted the impact of ecotourism on the economic upliftment of local communities.
She particularly discussed projects in Mindoro, Sibuyan Island, Palawan, Sorsogon, Iloilo, Guimaras, Samar and Sarangani.
Lopez also discussed G Stuff, a store she launched that offers green products that are produced from local communities their foundation has been assisting.
During the event, the NBCP honored four Nordic companies including Jotun (Philippines) Inc. as Company of the Year; Vestas Shared Service A/S—Philippine ROHQ, Growth Company of the Year; Delta Minerals, CSR Activity of the Year; and Grundfos IS, Outstanding Employer of the Year.
The NBCP was established in 2012 to promote and facilitate trade and investment between the Philippines and Nordic countries including Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden along with Baltic countries Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
