RESPONSIBLE gun owners and enthusiasts now have a new destination with the recent opening of Sky Range Shooting Club, a state-of-the-art indoor shooting range inside Solaire Resort and Casino Manila.
Sky Range COO Gerry de Belen said the P200-million shooting range is the first of its kind in Asia and is currently attracting tourists and expats here in the country.
“This is the first that is attached to a hotel. It is state-of-the-art and the first indoor accredited rifle range in the country,” de Belen said.
De Belen added that some of their more frequent visitors are those from China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, the United States and Australia with a number of them only first time gun users.
“China and Taiwan are the biggest customers that we have, with most of them preferring to use pistols including the 45 and 22 caliber,” de Belen said.
He added that people, who go their shooting range, are in their early 20s all the way to those who are already in their 60s, while also pointing out that they do not allow minors into their facility.
De Belen said, for the meantime, they will limit their membership to 2,000 individuals with 100 of those slots exclusively for experts. Other membership packages available are those for sharpshooter, corporate and hotel guests.
De Belen said they have a wide range of firearms that customers can use in the shooting range from pistols to long firearms, including the M16 and M4 sniper automatic. He also added that they will soon add night-vision goggles to add another variety to their shooting-range experience.
Currently, Sky Range has 15 lanes, 25-meter-long pistol shooting bay, five lanes 50-meter long rifle shooting bay, deluxe automatic target retrievers controlled with the patented Smart Pad System, total containment bullet traps and tactical safety baffles.
“Our facility is made by Action Target which is the best brand in shooting ranges. We simulate conditions. We have 99 different programs,” de Belen said.
According to de Belen, those going to their facility are first given gun-safety seminar and shooting fundamentals and that there is one-to-one supervision between them and their range officers.
He said those going to Sky Range have 20 minutes to shoot one package of 25 live ammunitions and that they have to finish their range shooting within one hour.
For those who already have guns, de Belen said they have two vaults for gun owners to use for safekeeping.
“This is a legitimate shooting club. We are very much for responsible gun ownership,” de Belen said.
Aside from the shooting range, Sky Range also offers packages for business meetings with its state-of-the-art boardroom. It also has a gourmet café that offers fusion cuisines along with a cigar lounge.
