CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Some P134 million in educational financial aid were given to 5,226 student beneficiaries by the provincial government for the past five years through the office of Gov. Lilia G. Pineda.
In 2010 at least 3,000 students were given educational financial assistance amounting to P30 million. Bessie Macabali, head of the Provincial Library and concurrent Education Program focal person, said part of the Educational Financial Assistance Program, or P10,000 was given to each of the 822 students who graduated at the top of their classes: valedictorian, salutatorian and first honorable mention. Other students totaling 522 who graduated second and third honorable mention from public-high school received P5,000 each.
A total of 1,522 students who graduated fourth to eighth honorable mention and others who graduated with distinction from different districts of Pampanga were given P2,500 each. As of January 4, 2015, the Governor’s Honor Students List of 2015-2016 (second semester of the academic year) were given a total of P14.6 million. The provincial government will continue delivering financial assistance as Pineda is bent to giving utmost priority to education, hoping to help nurture the country’s future leaders.
