TWO of the country’s leading foreign chambers ended 2015 with a celebration of their success last year.
The Korean Chamber of Commerce Philippines (KCCP) and the British Chamber of Commerce Philippines (BCCP) held their own Christmas celebrations for what they consider as a very gratifying year for their respective chambers.
Held at the InterContinental Hotel in Makati City, the KCCP used the occasion to announce that it was giving scholarship grants to one student each from Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao through the Philippine Koica Fellows Association Inc. (Philkofa).
Philkofa is the alumni association for Korea International Cooperation Agency (Koica)-sponsored education, workshops and seminars. The agency has been promoting understanding and cooperation among individuals and nations.
During the event, the KCCP also recognized Korean companies ShowBT Philippines Corp. and CJ Korea Express Philippines Corp. along with the Korean Investors Association in Philippine Economic Zone Authority for work they do in the country.
The event was attended by Korean Embassy officials led by its Consul General Won-jik Kwon, Asian Institute of Management President Dr. Ji-kyung Kang, Philippine Embassy in Korea official Ai-ja Jeon, and Philippines-Korea Economic Council Inc. President Gerardo Garcia.
Established in 1994, the KCCP promotes two-way trade between Korea and the Philippines, reach out to Korean companies to invest, assist in the economic development of the country and foster closer relations among its citizens.
Meanwhile, the BCCP, which held its Christmas party at the Marriott Hotel in Pasay City, gathered together its member-companies along with some of the country’s leading business executives and ranking government officials.
The BCCP used the occasion to further underscore its mission of further developing the economic link between the United Kingdom (UK) and the Philippines.
Last year, together with the UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), the BCCP has aggressively pushed the UK investment and trade missions in the country with very successful results. The BCCP has held networking events, trade forums, economic briefings and provided an outlet for its members to promote their brands internationally.
Established in 1997, the BCCP is the recognized voice of the British business community in the Philippines. It promotes its members’ interests with in the country and in the UK, together with the British Embassy and the UKTI.
