HE is one of the most sought-after celebrity endorsers this year, but Alden Richards is not letting popularity get in his head.
Dubbed as Philippines’s “Pambansang Bae,” Alden’s popularity soared after he was paired with Maine Mendoza, also known as “Yaya Dub,” in the hit “Kalyeserye” segment of long-running, top-rating noontime show Eat Bulaga on GMA.
The phenomenal “AlDub” loveteam has broken the 2014 World Cup record for the most number of tweets in a day generating 41 million tweets with their hashtag #AlDubEBTtamangpanahon, breaking their previous record of the over 26 million tweets generated by their first date episode in September.
At the Winter Christmas-themed launch for oral glutathione brand Snowcaps, Alden’s most recent product endorsement, he admitted feeling overwhelmed with all the number of fans showing up whenever he has mall tours in Metro Manila and in key provincial cities.
With a string of hit TV shows, a new chart-topping single, and a swarm of product endorsements under his belt, Alden said, “It’s no secret, the challenges I had to go through to get to this point. Maraming pagsubok early on in my career pero ngayon, napatunayan ko talaga na hard work pays off. I can definitely say na dumating na talaga ang moment ko.”
Even the number of media members attending the launch of his product endorsements surprises him also.
“Dati nagpe-presscon din ako pero, konti lang [media], mga isang table lang. Ngayon, andami nyo!” he quipped.
Despite his popularity, he stressed that it is important to remain grounded.
“I am overwhelmed at ‘di pa rin mag-sink in sa akin [his popularity],” he said, stressing that even titles given to him doesn’t get to his head.
“Mahilig kasi ang showbiz industry sa title. At the end of the day, paano mo ba made-defend ang bansag sa ’yo? Title lang ‘yan. It’s the kind of person you are that counts,” he reiterated.
He continued: “Parang I prayed for this moment, sa career ko po ipinagdasal ko na dumating ito…pero hindi ko naman po in-expect na it would happen this fast.”
“So, every day, every day na maghu-host ako sa Eat Bulaga, yung mga tao, I still get overwhelmed. And ito po, sa dami ng press, nao-overwhelm po ako,” he added.
With obvious humility, he said that he always reminds himself that the more people admire you and look up to as their role model, “the more na ang paa mo dapat nasa lupa.”
Given his being a workaholic and his hectic schedule every day, he said that Snowcaps help him fight the daily stress.
“On top of my daily dose of vitamins, I take Snowcaps. It helps me detox, as well…it’s not just for whitening as the main job of glutathione is to fight stress. Whitening is just a good side effect,” he added.
Snowcaps is the first oral glutathione in the Philippines and is among the leading skin-whitening supplements in the market today. It contains the premium, FDA-approved 500mg of L-glutathione formulation, also known as the miracle enzyme; alpha lipoic acid and vitamin C for safe and effective whitening in as fast as six weeks. It also contains 50 percent more glutathione than more expensive brands.
Glutathione is also a compound naturally produced by the liver and is considered one of the most powerful antioxidants that inhibit the production of toxins and free radicals caused by stress and other lifestyle factors.
When asked why he entrusts his skin and overall health to the brand, Alden only had one thing to say.
“Bawat tao may hiling. With hard work, I’m lucky that mine has come true and I trust brands that recognize that. That means they probably had the same challenges too,” Alden concluded.
