About five years ago, if one needed or wanted a product from a brand that wasn’t in the department stores, it was a challenge. Other people may think a tube of moisturizer from France isn’t important in the bigger scheme of things but to beauty enthusiasts, it is.
Nuxe is one of those brands that people used to order from France. I used to be part of an online community where some of members would hold “preorders” for beauty products and Nuxe would be among the most requested.
The brand’s first product, Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil, remains at the top of the oil category in France.
Formulated with six plant oils, including macadamia, hazelnut, borage, sweet almond, camellia and Saint John’s Wort, it claims to “nourish, repair and soften skin and reduce the appearance of stretch marks.”
The dry oil is the brand’s most iconic product. When you say Nuxe, you think of the oil, which you can use on your face, body and hair (now that is a great product when you’re traveling).
Good news for Nuxe fans: the brand is back in the Philippines. I use the word “back” because I remember that it used to be available here under a different distributor. During the launch hosted by Rustan Marketing Corp., which distributes Nuxe in the Philippines, actress and singer Nikki Gil was introduced as the ambassador for the brand around these parts. Nuxe was founded by entrepreneur Aliza Jabès in 1991 with the vision of providing women with beauty products harnessing the power of nature.
The products are all non-comedogenic (their use does not result in the appearance of blemishes), and are formulated without parabens, mineral oils (ingredients of petrochemical origin) and animal-origin ingredients. Nuxe also uses ecological, 100-percent natural and solvent-free processes to extract its botanical active ingredients, ensuring the potency of each component. Nuxe is not just all about the dry oil. During the launch, I was amazed at the lineup of the products, which cover a range of different skin concerns.
In 2002 it launched a Day Spa, the first of its kind in Paris. Nuxe spas are present in over 30 locations around the world.
In 2009 Nuxe launched Bio Beaute, a skincare line that combines the high concentration of active botanical oils with the best fruit extracts for natural and radiant beauty.
In 2011 Nuxe acquired the patent on vectorized micro-collagen, a powerful active ingredient that redefined the foundation of antiaging cosmetics. In just three years, Nuxe developed and released Resultime, which restores skin’s suppleness and radiance.
Nuxe is the only cosmetics laboratory to be awarded twice by the Institut National de la Propriété Industrielle (French National Institute of Industrial Property) for its research and development strategy in 2007 and 2011.
It has been recognized with 170 national and international awards for its exceptional quality, and has remained No. 1 in major segments of the pharmacy market including antiaging care for Laboratorie Nuxe, oils for Huile Prodigieuse, fragrances for Prodigeus le Parfum and firming care for the Nuxe body fondant firming cream. Nuxe is now sold in 69 countries.
Nuxe is available in Beauty Bar, Rustan›s Makati and Rustan›s Shangri-La. For more information, follow them on Facebook (NUXE Philippines) and Instagram (@NuxePH).
