TAKING selfies is one way of showing the world you’re teeming with confidence, undeniably charismatic and cunningly armed with a sound fashion sense. More so, in order for you to take your mind off the crazy traffic these days, it’s better to amuse yourself instead and take a fun self-portrait. Do it with a 2015 Nissan Sylphy 1.8 V. In fact, this writer suggests six sexy ways to go about it.
1 Start with a good angle
One look at the Nissan Sylphy from the outside instantly tells any onlooker of its quiet elegance coupled with unrivaled sophistication and sense of class, which is a cut above its segment. Upfront, the Sylphy has a more pointed, sharper snout compared to its predecessor, the Sentra. While its elongated form gives it a more solid stance on the road. In its rear, arrow-shaped LED tail lamps and 17-inch wheels, respectively, further prove its point.
For selfie nuts, make sure to begin your photo feast with an onset signature of this outer beauty.
Aside from a more dashing demeanor, this former Sentra has an ample amount of amenities inside. First, it still retains the feel of the Sentras of old even with its roomier and upgraded cabin. I should know since my cousins still own one Generation-3 and memories still seem fresh when we used it to sneak out for our infamous late-night gimmicks.
For the top-spec entry, which this scribe borrowed, leather comes standard. It also comes with dual-climate control with rear vents, a Sony 2-DIN audio system with six speakers, Bluetooth audio streaming, and keyless entry system with push-button engine start/stop. An updated NissanConnect with Navigation and all-new NissanConnect Apps smartphone integration for iPhone and Android, improved voice recognition and one-shot destination entry come as a bonus. Meanwhile, new front seat lower cushion storage pockets are standard on all models.
Here, capturing these features on cam for everyone to see on Facebook and Instagram might probably be the best idea.
3 Be sure to smile
There are plenty of reasons to stretch those facial muscles and trigger those happy hormones on the road since the Sylphy is polite and well-mannered. It’s like seeing the university’s well-mannered top scholar behave in the toughest traffic-stricken streets in Metro Manila. The noise, vibration and harshness are remarkably at their lowest. The car feels solid and quiet. And when roads clear up, it nonchalantly cruises as if one is on a surfboard smoothly drifting among the gentle waves. It must have something to do with the revised steering, CVT transmission and suspension tuning for this is such notable bliss. And paying just P998,000 for it seems to be a meager amount.
The thing with a selfie is that, for it to be a sure hit on social media, it must look effortless. Just like the Sylphy—unpretentious. It delivers fine balance and superb handling, yes. But it’s quite honest not to give the race-savvy driver the “oomph” he yearns for. It, on the other, delivers an exceptional average of 14.5 km/l fuel mileage for both highway and city driving considering, take note, it doesn’t carry any additional fuel-saving mechanism. Plus, it sticks with the 1.8 CVT X-tronic, when the competition has already gone up to 2.0 liters. It’s a global decision and it seems to be quite happy where it is, currently.
5 Be authentic
So far, everything aforementioned has been true and genuine, just as the one taking the selfie beside the car should be.
6 Strike a signature pose
And like anything that has left a significant memory in this world, one should easily be identified either through a certain smile, a look or mannerism. For the Nissan Sylphy, it is the quiet confident charisma behind all the reserved elegance.
And that is quite sexy.
