The Department of Agriculture (DA) said on Wednesday that the World Bank has given the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) a “satisfactory” rating after it has visited various project sites around the country.
The verdict was announced by the World Bank recently during the exit conference of the monthlong First Implementation Support Mission for PRDP.
Infrastructure, or I-BUILD subprojects, and enterprise development, or I-REAP subproject, were visited by a team from the World Bank, who also consulted with beneficiaries, proponents and other stakeholders to address concerns on the implementation of the projects.
Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala said in a news statement that there is a need to sustain the rural-development innovations the PRDP is working on.
“Indeed, the DA has proven that the implementation strategies and measures we had put early on are in still in good place,” Alcala said. However, he said there are still aspects in the project that the DA and its partners will need to improve on.
“With the able support from the World Bank and the DA leadership, we are positive that we can deliver better tasks and outputs for the enhanced implementation of the project. Our shared enthusiasm with local government units as implementation partners is certainly greater than the challenges we have to hurdle, together,” he said.
