CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, PAMPANGA—The province of Pampanga has generated a total of P68,388,000 from the quarry trucks’ weighing-scale fees collected for the past 32 months.
A report released by the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (Pgenro) P65 million of the amount came from quarry trucks doing business in Pampanga, while P3 million was collected from quarry trucks from other provinces that utilize the roads of Pampanga.
Records also showed that the quarry revenue of the province from June 2010 to January 2015 totaled P1,397,342,577.79
The collection came from the aggregated sum of the quarry collection, P1,304,665,00; weighing-scale fees, P68,388,000; accreditation of motor vehicles, P20,597,665; and quarry sand and gravel fees, P3,691,912.79.
The provincial government, headed by Gov. Lilia Pineda, aims to collect P1.6 billion in 2016, when the governor’s term ends.
The governor believes that the target is highly possible as the province met its P1-billion target in 2014.
Under the Local Government Code, revenue from quarry operations is shared by the provincial government, cities or towns, and barangays from where the sand was hauled at a 30-30-40 percent ratio.
The administrative fee collected from the quarry truckers goes solely to the provincial government that uses the proceeds to monitor and regulate the industry.
