BIANCA Gonzales is no ordinary celebrity. Aside from being ABS-CBN’s mainstay reality-TV and morning-show host, model, United Nations Children’s Fund supporter and a Philippine Movie Press Club Inc. awardee, she, and 13 other drivers, geared up to put their driving skills to the test in Shell’s recent FuelSave Good Choice Driving Challenge.
From Bonifacio Global City to Batangas and back, the challenge taught these drivers, including Bianca, how to drive smart and make good choices on and off the road to help manage life’s daily pressures. During the event, they drove a total distance of 240 kilometers using the all-new Ford EcoSport 1.5L Titanium.
“More than being a fuel-efficiency competition, the Shell FuelSave Good Choice Driving Challenge is our way of showing Filipino motorists how easy it is to be fuel-efficient. All it takes are making a few simple changes to the way we drive, and using the right fuel,” explained Anthony Lawrence Yam, vice president for retail of Pilipinas Shell.
What better way to promote an image of good fuel economy and energy conservation than have celebrity-host Bianca at the forefront.
The 31-year-old stunner has been in the limelight as a host for more than 15 years. From Game Channel Extreme to Wazzup Wazzup, Magandang Umaga Pilipinas, Y Speak and now Umagang Kay Ganda and Pinoy Big Brother, she has already attracted thousands, if not millions, of Filipino fans, particularly the youth. The former Atenean campus crush has their eyes glued on the television, not just because of her looks, but also for her natural charm, class and wit. In fact, she has been rated as the No. 2 most beautiful Filipina, second only to beauty queen Miriam Quiambao, in a survey back in 2010. “Hers is of effortless beauty,” said renowned fashion photographer Jun de Leon. Now, put this sweet little charmer behind the wheel as she feathers on the pedal to save on gas, and you get nothing but the best possible endorser for a fuel company that values safety and all its other intricacies above all. “I am delighted to be part of the Shell FuelSave Good Choice Driving Challenge and show my fellow motorists that every driver can be fuel-efficient,” said Bianca, who was named Shell FuelSave Celebrity Driver of the Year, after besting three other celebrities from Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand during the final leg of the Shell FuelSave Celebrity Driving Challenge in February.
“I am not a driving enthusiast, so I am amazed to know that making simple adjustments to the way I drive—such as driving smoothly, avoiding high speeds and planning my trips carefully—can go a long way in increasing my fuel efficiency,” Bianca added. “Of course, what makes the difference is choosing the right fuel.” For Shell, choosing the right person to represent its brand is also of utmost importance. Don’t be surprised if the next time you see this girl on a newspaper ad, billboard or television, you suddenly feel an itch in your heart that you, too, might want to save fuel—effortlessly.
