CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda distributed at least P1.945 million in educational financial assistance to 778 college students from the Second District of Pampanga.
The student-beneficiaries who received P2,500 each were chosen and identified by Vice Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda, 478 students; and Board Members Salvador Dimson Jr. (100), Arthur Salalila (100) and Anthony Joseph Torres (100), from the six towns of the district.
The vice governor told the student beneficiaries to give more attention to their studies and if they could finish their college education, they have3 a better chance at a decent employment that would benefit them and their families as well in the future.
The governor said the provincial government is duty bound to support poor but deserving Capampangan students to alleviate their marginalized condition by helping them finish their college education. The student beneficiaries said they salute the governor for putting the future of the youth first in her program as everyone is given an equal opportunity to finish their college through the educational financial assistance of the provincial government.
They also extended their gratitude to the provincial government led by Pineda and the provincial board members led by the vice governor who gave them the opportunity to dream, survive and become catalysts of change. Recently, Pineda distributed cash benefit under the education program to barangay public high-school class valedictorian, salutatorian, first honorable mention who received P10,000; second and third honorable mentions, P5,000; fourth to eighth honorable mentions, P2,500; and graduates of the Alternative Learning System (ALS), P5,000 each.
The governor said that every year, these Capitol scholars, including the ALS graduates, are guaranteed to receive the same financial assistance provided they maintain their grades as follows: valedictorian, salutatorian and first honorable mention, 85 percent; second to third honorable mentions, 80 percent; and ALS graduates, passing grades for the semester.
