AS part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Quezon City, a citywide medical mission will be held on October 11 and 12.
It aims to benefit 30,000 Quezon City residents and is “the biggest and first-ever of its magnitude and scope in the city’s history.”
This is according to Mayor Herbert M. Bautista as he kicked off the Diamond Jubilee celebrations on October 7 with his State of the City Address at the Quezon City Hall.
The medical missions will simultaneously take place in all six districts, as a way of catering to the public’s immediate health needs, especially those living in marginalized areas. There will be free consultations, free checkups and free basic medicines.
“We are very delighted that almost all of the hospitals and clinics in Quezon City are participating in this once-in-a-lifetime endeavor,” said Tadeo Palma, secretary to the Mayor and executive director of the Diamond Jubilee Commission. “We have shown that through cooperation and strong will, we can combine all our efforts to make an impact especially on the lives of our fellow Quezon City residents.”
Some of the hospitals and institutions who will participate in the Diamond Jubilee Medical Missions include the Quezon City Health Department, St. Luke’s Medical Center, Veterans Memorial Medical Center, Sta. Teresita General Hospital, Quezon City St. Agnes Hospital, Philippine Medical Association, QC Medical Society, World Citi Medical Center, Lung Center of the Philippines, Quezon City Red Cross, Quezon City General Hospital, among others. Companies and foundations such as Unilab, Mercury Drugstore, SM Foundation, and Tzu Chi Foundation will also lend their resources and expertise to make this grand medical mission a success.
“With this grand medical mission in time with the city’s Diamond Jubilee, we want to send a message that we have a city that cares for its constituents and there are groups and companies who have the concern to share their effort, time and resources to reach out to those who need it most,” Mr. Palma concluded.
