‘SOMETIMES things have to go wrong in order to go right,” says New York Times and international bestselling author Sherrilyn Kenyon in her description of today’s adversities. This holds true, in particular, in the minds of the young, wild and free members of the “Generation Y,” the “Millennials”—or so they say.
And so, in return, Isuzu Philippines Corp. addressed this contention with the launch of the all-new Isuzu D-Max X-Series—a perfect counterpunch to today’s modern-day woes, specifically, that of the young’s.
“Capability for capability, feature for feature, the Isuzu D-Max is unmatched, and carries proven advantages in terms of durability, reliability and fuel efficiency,” said IPC president Nobuo Izumina.
“But we at Isuzu believe in continuously improving our products so that these remain relevant to our customers. That is why the new Isuzu D-Max X-Series reflects the on-the-go, youthful attitude of the Millennial generation, whose unique fast-paced lifestyle involves constant updating and linking via social media.”
With the curtains rolled up inside the Metrowalk Tent in Pasig City, the new X-Series variant was said to be available for the Isuzu D-Max LS 4×2 with both manual and automatic transmissions.
This monster yet stylish machine packs attractive features that set it apart from any pickup model presently offered in the Philippine market.
Imagine, if you will, a heavy and hefty 4×4 Formula 1 car that runs both on and off the road. That’s “racing style” for you as the X-Series dons decals on its hood and tailgate, complemented by a red Isuzu emblem. To make it even sleeker, it also sports a cargo spoiler that extends to the roof and aero skirts under the front and rear bumpers. Sophisticated yet sporty 17″ gun metallic finish alloy wheels, meanwhile, await an eager audience for the new Isuzu D-Max X-Series in both a city setting or an exclusive out-of-town resort.
The youth’s energy is indeed unrivaled. Unless, say, come a medium such as this. A peppy instrument that would channel all unwanted steam to a more positive vent.
That’s why the new Isuzu D-Max X-Series provides side steps, making access into the cabin easier, and a cargo bed liner that allows the upwardly mobile to securely accommodate active weekend gear like mountain bikes, wakeboards and camping equipment. And as if brand-ironed, the X-Series is badged with a prominent special mark on its tailgate.
Meanwhile, its undeniable machismo is coupled with black fabric seats highlighted by bold red contrasting trim to help enliven its then dull insides. It comes with a matching red Isuzu badge on the steering wheel, which has control buttons to let techies surf the various functions of the premium 2-DIN audio system that integrates CD/MP3/micro USB/aux input jack/tuner with Bluetooth connectivity. Thus, further complementing digital lifestyles are electroluminescent meters with a new multi-information display.
This pickup is powered by the Euro 2 4JJ1-TC 3.0-liter diesel engine with common rail direct injection and a turbocharger that has an intercooler, producing 146 ps at 3,800 rpm and 294 Nm at 1,400 rpm to 3,400 rpm. The power plant comes with either a five-speed manual transmission or the advanced five-speed automatic transmission that has a sequential shift function, which makes manual gear-shifting possible in an automatic transmission.
Creeping beneath the new X-Series is a doable suspension system composed of independent double wishbone with coil springs in front and semi-elliptical over-slung leaf springs in the rear, which allows the pickup to carry a heavy payload while at the same time having improved driving performance and vehicle stability.
The Isuzu D-Max X-Series is available in Silky Pearl White and Venetian Red Mica, both with decal stripes, while the LS 4×2 M/T is priced at P1.234 million and the LS 4×2 A/T at P1.286 million.
