A TREND for full-touch-enabled phones is creeping its way into the Filipino market as cheaper and more ubiquitous phones are introduced, according to Nokia Philippines.
“We’re always introducing our latest models here. We know that there is trend for touch phones. A lot of buyers like full-touch, so that’s a very aspirational factor,” said Mike Smith, Nokia Philippines device portfolio manager, during the launch of Nokia’s latest crop of full-touch phones under the Asha Touch brand.
Nokia launched three new models of Asha Touch, following the positive reception of earlier iterations.
Asha Touch 305, 360 and 311 are equipped with the Nokia browser, which promises to reduce data costs by as much as 90 percent.
Asha Touch smartphones have been preinstalled with Nokia Social applications for easier access to social-networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. Nokia Maps is also available in all three phones.
Smith adds that Filipinos are among the largest communities on Facebook and Twitter. The Asha Touch series can easily make updates easier and faster with the Nokia Social apps.Equipped with a 3.2-megapixel camera, Asha Touch directly uploads photos to popular social networks. Over 40 EA Games applications can be downloaded for free with Nokia’s exclusive offer. Over 35,000 applications are available for download for the Asha Touch.
Similar to its predecessors, the Nokia Asha 305 comes with an Easy Swap Dual-SIM technology, while its sister device, Nokia Asha 306, has WLAN for easy access to the Internet. Asha 311, which is set to launch in stores in August, is a 3G device powered by a 1GHz processor.
“The new Nokia Asha range will bring the most popular smartphone features within the reach of many. It’s part of our global commitment to connect the next billion to the Internet. These are some of the compelling reasons we came up with the Nokia Asha Touch family, and we hope, that just like other Nokia devices, these smartphones will also become fundamental in the daily lives of consumers,” said Saulo Passos, Nokia communication director for mobile phones.
