LAST year the Social Security System (SSS) implemented an enhanced Annual Confirmation of Pensioners (Acop), the SSS’s way of ensuring that the rightful beneficiaries are receiving the right pension benefits.
Unlike the earlier versions of Acop, the enhanced version has made provisions for those who are unable to present themselves for various reasons such as physical incapacity, confinement in institutions and living abroad. Also, those who are able to present themselves have the choice of doing so at their depository bank or the SSS office nearest them.
Here is a question from a pensioner whom I shall refer to as Mr. C. R. from Las Vegas, USA:
Question: I am living in Las Vegas and was in your office in Quezon City last March 26 regarding Acop compliance. For my 2014 Acop compliance, I was told to download a form from web site sss.gov.ph, fill it up and attach a copy of a valid passport, SSS ID and any ID issued by the USA. Can you kindly tell me what is the name or number of the form that I have to download? Thank you very much.
Answer: Dear Mr. C. R., the form you need is the Annual Confirmation of Pensioners Form, which you can download from the SSS web site: www.sss.gov.ph. Yes, you have been correctly advised that in order to comply with the annual confirmation requirement for 2014, all you need to do is fill out the Acop Form and attach the photocopies of your SS ID card, a valid passport or any two valid IDs issued by the host country’s governmental unit or agency where your photo and signature are shown, and send these documents to the Acop counter of the Members Assistance Center, SSS Diliman Branch, East Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City 1101. Please be reminded to comply on or before your birthday next year.
