ON this date last year, the Pilipino Mirror, sister publication of BusinessMirror, put out its maiden issue with “Salamin ng Katotohanan” as its underlying philosophy.
Pilipino Mirror promised to “revolutionize the tabloid industry in form and substance with regard for truth, quality and accuracy.”
A year later, it’s proud to report that it has done just that, and more.
Pilipino Mirror is the only tabloid with a double front page and inside pages filled to the brim with up-to-date news on current political, economic and social developments, as well as comprehensive reportage on the peace and order situation.
It has a powerhouse lineup of columnists from the print and broadcast media, the government and academe, which helps its readers make an informed judgment on current issues and concerns.
It carries sizzling showbiz news, gripping sports stories and informative features on health and the environment.
It also has a regular cooking guide, tips for entrepreneurs, a daily horoscope, trivia, horseracing tips and lotto results.
In other words, Pilipino Mirror covers the entire range of human endeavor, and in so doing, helps its readers understand better what’s happening around us.
Like BusinessMirror, which seeks to offer a “broader view of Philippine business,” Pilipino Mirror reflects reality as it sees it.
It strives to hold a mirror up to society so that people can see the truth in their daily lives, understand their shortcomings and weaknesses, and build upon their strengths as a nation and as a people, and perhaps collectively work to change things for the better.
Pilipino Mirror put out the thinking man’s tabloid seven days a week, and it now has a circulation of 80,000 copies nationwide, thanks to the efforts of Ambassador Antonio Cabangon Chua, founder of the sister papers, as well as the editors, reporters, photographers, and the production, circulation and advertising departments.
We in the BusinessMirror join Pilipino Mirror in thanking, on its first anniversary, all those who helped it reach this milestone.
To the loyal readers of both papers, our deep appreciation for your patronage the past year, and we hope that you will continue to be part of the effort to make Pilipino Mirror truly the “Salamin ng Katotohanan” that we all want it to be in the years to come.
