Rural dentist arrested in alleged drug den in Cotabato

Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (Pdea) have arrested a 44-year-old dentist and three others inside an alleged drug den during an entrapment operation on November 26. However, they were unable to arrest the alleged operator of the drug den who escaped after handing over a sachet of shabu to an agent in Barangay Bagua 3, Cotabato City.

Pdea Director General Arturo Cacdac Jr. identified the arrested dentist as Dr. Rainier Masukat alias Nen.

“He is a rural health dentist and resident of Ilang-Ilang Street in Barangay Bagua 3,” Cacdac said.

Also arrested were Marvin Sinsuat alias Marvs, 40, of Barangay Datu Balabaran, Husky Terminal; Rosello Paches alias Butchoy, 33, of Bagua 3; and Von Lluna, 24, of Sitio Lugay-Lugay, Barangay Bagua 1.

“All the suspects were apprehended while having a pot session inside the drug den,” Cacdac said.

But during the operation Ricky Cimafranca alias Kay-Kay, a watch-listed pusher and the subject of the buy-bust operation, managed to escape.

Before the entrapment, Cacdac said Cimafranca agreed to meet with an undercover agent, who posed as a buyer, at his residence doubling as a drug den.

“However, after selling and handing one sachet of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu to the poseur-buyer, Cimafranca was able to elude arrest. Our agents chased him, which led the operating unit to enter Cimafranca’s house where Masukat and company were having a pot session. Aside from the object of the buy-bust operation, Pdea agents also recovered various drug paraphernalia,” Cacdac said.

Those arrested were charged with violation of Section 7 (Visitors of a Drug Den), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Charges of violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 6 (Maintenance of a Drug Den) were filed against Cimafranca who remains at large.
