ZAMBOANGA CITY—A college professor and an information technology student were abducted by gunmen inside the Mindanao State University (MSU) campus in Marawi City, a military official disclosed on Monday.

Lt. Col. Randolph Cabangbang, Western Mindanao Command spokesman, said the incident took place at about 6:45 p.m. on Saturday on 7th Street inside the MSU campus.

Cabangbang identified the victims as Cris Neil Gulfan, 24, a professor of Al-Khawirizmi International College and Aubrey Virtudez, 19, an information technology student.

Gulfan is a resident of Pagadian City, the capital of Zamboanga del Sur, while Virtudez is from Cagayan de Oro City.

The victims were walking home when a group of unidentified gunmen seized them, Cabangbang said.

They are staying at the Macarambon’s Cottage on 7th Street inside the MSU campus.

The victims were forced to board a maroon Hi-Lander sports utility vehicle (SUV) that sped towards Piagapo town in Lanao del Sur, Cabangbang said.
