THE Games and Amusement Board (GAB) said it may still revoke Wynne Arboleda’s license despite the stiff penalty the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) has imposed on the Burger King player.

“The PBA is a separate body. They conducted their own investigation and had their own penalty on Arboleda. GAB is an independent body and will come out with its own decision on the issue,” GAB’s Dioscoro Bautista, chief officer of pro basketball and other pro sports, told the BusinessMirror on Tuesday.

GAB has invited Arboleda, teammate Mark Yee and Alain Katigbac, whom Arboleda punched during a game between the Whopper and guest team Smart Gilas last month, to a hearing on Thursday at the GAB office in Makati City.

“They have to attend the hearing because otherwise, they will waive their chance to explain their side,” said Bautista.

The three will face a fact-finding committee composed of Bautista, Felomino Mongan and GAB administrative officer Ofelia Artuge.

GAB, under Presidential Decree 871, has the power to suspend or revoke the license of a professional athlete in the country who is found guilty of misconduct.

Manila Rep. Amado Bagatsing has called for a hearing on October 27 on the Arboleda issue. Bagatsing hit the PBA, the security department of the Araneta Coliseum and GAB for lack of protocol during games. Bautista, however, clarified GAB has no jurisdiction over fans.

Bautista said the GAB has already secured the video of the game and a copy of the PBA’s investigation on the incident.
