Outdoor enthusiasts, young and old, enjoyed a challenging but fun trek into the 52-hectare Sandari Forest Reserve last Saturday at Sandari Batulao in Nasugbu, Batangas.

Sprawled near the famed Mount Batulao, the Sandari Forest Reserve is just a short drive from the Metro and is home to a variety of plant species endemic to Batulao. These range from low-lying shrubs to gigantic century-old trees, like the imposing and magnificent balete and the very useful banaba which boasts of numerous medicinal benefits such as treatment for diabetes and management of weight loss, according to forest caretaker and trek guide Mar Salazar of Batulao Bio-Loop Farms.

The trekkers, made up mostly of city dwellers, marveled at the unique variety of flora and fauna during the more than two-hour trail while indulging their hunger for adventure. The distinct natural structures formed inside the forest, such as the intertwining balete trees or the drooping vines, also proved to be of visual interest to the photography hobbyists who joined the trek.

Aside from its natural beauty, this lush forest also contributes to the cool climate at Sandari Batulao. This, coupled with the property’s proximity to Nasugbu Bay, assures that Sandari Batulao is blessed with a refreshing, gentle breeze year round.

The Sandari Forest Trekking Adventure is ongoing on all Saturdays of the summer. Interested parties may visit Sandari Batulao’s official Facebook page (www.facebook.com/official.sandari.batulao) to register and submit their preferred schedule. They may also call 817-5876 or 894-3019, or visit www.sandaribatulao.com for more details.

Set within 800 hectares of lush greens and undulating hills at the foot of Mount Batulao, Sandari Batulao is envisioned to be a self-sustaining mountainside community where residents and guests experience a laid-back lifestyle marked by a genuine respect for the quiet life and the natural environment.

It is being developed by Citystate Properties and Management Corp., headed by former Philippine ambassador to Laos Antonio L. Cabangon Chua and his Singaporean partners.

Located at Km77, Batulao, Nasugbu, Batangas, and 10 minutes away from Metro Tagaytay along the Nasugbu-Tagaytay Tourism National Highway, Sandari Batulao is just an hour-and-a-half drive from Makati via the South Luzon Expressway through the Santa Rosa Exit.
