THE Age of Reason was a cultural movement of intellectuals in 18th century Europe and America. A new way of thinking was developed with the idea that you needed to fully understand an idea and think it through entirely and carefully.

THERE’S something going on that is distinctly exciting in contrast to the state and forecasts on the economy.

The economic stance is not exciting at all. It is generally conservative, with the growth consensus at a modest 4.2 percent to 4.8 percent for this year. Even the government’s target of 5 percent to 6 percent is not really exciting when you compare it with our neighbors’ 6 percent to 9 percent in terms of gross domestic product (GDP).

THE state-owned Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) seems to have come to its senses, finally, after being given the runaround and played for a sucker by the Sobrepeña-owned Camp John Hay Development Corp. (CJHDevco) since 1997!
