Recognizing the importance of nurturing children’s potentials, the Philippine Association for the Gifted (PAG), the country’s foremost organization for the promotion of giftedness and advocacy for gifted children and youth, will hold its 12^th Annual Convention-Workshop “Nurturing Giftedness: New Directions” on November 25, 2009 from 8am until 5pm at the Mandarin Oriental Suites of the Gateway Mall, Araneta Center Cubao Quezon City. The event coincides with the country’s 10^th year celebration of the “National Week for the Gifted and Talented.”

The convention will be facilitated by Mary Ellen Ryan, an expert on gifted children. She is currently the Director for the Implementation of the Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM), which shows teachers how to develop students' talents by assessing their strengths and providing enrichment through resources and services.  Ms. Ryan completed her Master’s Degree in Gifted and Talented Education at the University of Connecticut, and she currently works as an Enrichment Specialist at the Hong Kong International School, providing professional development for teachers, and differentiated curriculum for gifted learners.

The two-day event will serve as a venue for teachers and parents to learn new methods in nurturing their child’s talents and potentials. School administrators, guidance counselors and professors are also highly encouraged to attend the event.
