ALLIANCE Global Group Inc. (AGI), a listed company with interests in gaming, real estate development and food service, said net income rose 44 percent to P6.9 billion last year, slightly beating its earlier forecast by over 4 percent.
In a statement to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Monday, AGI said consolidated net income rose 40 percent to P9.5 billion compared with the same period last year.
AGI’s consolidated revenues also increased by 15 percent to P55.5 billion.
The company said real estate unit Megaworld Corp. contributed 49 percent to its topline growth, while non-real estate businesses accounted for 51 percent of its revenues, primarily through Emperador Distillers, Golden Arches Development Corp. and Travellers International Hotel Group.
“We believe that all our business units will continue to sustain their strong growth momentum in 2011,” said AGI chairman Andrew Tan. “We are ready to fast-track our real estate developments and capture new growth opportunities in the tourism sector, especially with our investment in Global-Estate Resorts (formerly Fil-Estate Land Inc.).”
AGI, in January, completed its P5-billion acquisition of a majority stake in Fil-Estate Land. It paid P1.25 billion in cash, or 25 percent of the total subscription price for Fil-Estate Land shares. The company it owns and controls more than 10 percent of the total land area in Boracay of 1,006 hectares.
AGI subsidiaries Megaworld and Emperador Distillers saw their net profits rise to record levels of P5.1 billion and P1.6 billion, respectively.
The combined cash position of the different business units of the AGI group reached P47.3 billion as a result of higher operating efficiency.
Emperador Distillers produces Emperador and Generoso brandy and newer labels Emperador Light and The Bar flavored alcoholic beverages, both of which are reportedly enjoying brisk sales.
Golden Arches is the master franchise holder of McDonald’s in the country, while Travellers International is the developer of Resorts World Manila, the first integrated tourism complex in the country, located across from Ninoy Aquino International Terminal 3 at the Newport City cyber tourism zone in Pasay City.
