DANIEL JACOBS threw everything at Gennady Golovkin including the kitchen sink but it still wasn’t enough to unseat Golovkin from his World Boxing Council and World Boxing Association middleweight thrones.
Golovkin won via unanimous decision. Golovkin’s knockout streak ended at 25. Jacobs took Golovkin through unchartered territory.
The title defense was Golovkin’s 18th, just two away from the record held by the legendary Bernard Hopkins who had 20. Jacobs suffered a knockdown for only the third time in his career. Jacob’s jaw, which withstood punishment from Golovkin’s power, kept the fight close.
Jacobs lost the International Boxing Federation version of the middleweight belt when he was overweight on the day of the fight. Some keen boxing observers say Jacobs should’ve won the fight because he was more aggressive, but Golovkin was more accurate. Jacobs suffered a knockdown in the fourth round. If there was no knockdown, then fight would have been much closer.

ON May 6 Mexican middleweight superstar Canelo Alvarez fights Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. I don’t see this fight lasting the full 12 rounds. Alvarez will win by knockout in the early rounds then he’ll call out Golovkin.
Chavez Jr. has an attitude problem: He would rather train in his living room than in the gym. He is everything that his legendary father wasn’t. He’s had numerous run-ins with the law and doesn’t have a solid work ethic.

CONOR MCGREGOR vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. All I see is back and forth between the two. No venue and no date set yet. Is this fight really going to happen? Until I see both guys cross their Ts and dot their Is, I don’t see this fight happening.
No catch weight, because Mayweather is heavier and bigger. There has to be a catch weight to be fair to all parties. Both men though are doing a great job of selling and promoting the fight.

MARCH Madness once again beckons for the 64 schools, which were selected by the NCAA selection committee to compete for a chance to win a national championship. No. 1 seed and defending champion Villanova was upset by eighth seed Wisconsin, 65-62. I see Duke University winning it all this season.
