I was never one to go out in anything overly flashy or conspicuous as I am a big fan of simple, elegant and classic designs. Perhaps this is something that comes with age. So when I received the WeSC Bongo e-91 headphones, I fell into a slight panic. How do you match anything with something that was sea green, electric blue and red orange all at the same time? This was definitely something my kid sister would rock, with her eclectic taste in fashion and the wild colors she can put so crazily together. I knew I had to step out of my comfort zone and let the “young, free-spirited wild child” let loose in order to fully appreciate its “coolness.”

But don’t let these funky-looking headphones fool you. They may not seem like an outwardly serious set of headphones, but anyone who is truly serious about music and appreciates its purest sonic potential will know and later come to understand why WeSC is known for its products. These DJ-style headphones feature 40-mm drivers that deliver to any music junkie a sound so crisp and clear that you might find yourself wanting to find sea green-, blue- and-red colored outfits just to be able to give it some real fashion justice.  It also comes with an extension TPE cord, in case you need the extra length, but comes right off if you don’t like having wires hanging untidily all over you.

Of course, I wasn’t wearing any of the above-mentioned colors during one stint where I took them along on a ride across Metro Manila in the MRT. As I sat comfortably and quietly listening to Mariah Carey hits, traveling the 20-minute ride, I could feel eyes burning at the fabulously flashy set I had sitting atop my head. Probably not a pair you would want if you wanted to stay incognito. But I certainly didn’t mind the attention and I didn’t pay anyone any mind. The soft ear cups block outside noise, letting you experience rich, luxurious sound to its fullest. I didn’t feel my ears aching after keeping them on longer than usual. Sometimes, I even forget to take them off when the music’s already over and I continued nonchalantly on with other things.
