THE
Department of Energy warned the public against persons
pretending to be agents of the Presidential Task Force
on the Security of Energy Facilities and the Enforcement
of Energy Laws and Standards, and harassing liquefied
petroleum gas (LPG) refilling stations.
Energy
Undersecretary Roy Kyamko said on Tuesday they have
reports some unscrupulous individuals are demanding
bribes from the station owners to overlook “imagined”
violations.
Kyamko
said all members of the task force are issued mission
orders duly signed only by Energy Secretary Angelo
Reyes, and these mission orders are issued for a
specific period of time.
He
encouraged victims to file charges against these
criminals or to report them to the nearest police
station. They may also contact the task force at
telephone nos. 840-2151/ 840-2192/ 893-1320, local
2331/227; and 840-1401 local 320 and 325.
Reyes
earlier ordered LPG companies to conduct an audit of
their LPG cylinders, remove those found defective and
report those that are missing from their inventory.
The
circular stressed that LPG companies should be
responsible in ensuring that their LPG cylinders are not
being used by illegal refilling stations.
Recently, the task force raided an LPG refilling station
in Quezon City for selling underweight or defective LPG
cylinders. |
