Done deal (From left) Noel Eli Kintanar, FBDC head-commercial operations; Ray Butch Gamboa, STV chairman & CEO; and Lourdes Reyes, Chief Finance Officer finalize a co-sponsorhip agreement between the two organizations.

FORT BONIFACIO Development Corp. (FBDC) and Sunshine Television Production & Marketing Services Corp. (STV) have agreed to bring the 2008 “Auto Focus Motor Show & Auto Expo” to Area 2 of the Bonifacio Global City (behind NBC Tent). Heralded as one of the biggest displays of 2008 models ever assembled in one venue, the event is slated on November 25 to December 1.

The agreement, which was inked between FBDC’s Noel Eli Kintanar, head of commercial operations; Lourdes Reyes, chief finance officer; and STV chairman and CEO Ray Butch Gamboa, will seek to promote the prime real estate developments of Ayala Land within Bonifacio Global City through the motor show and to well-targeted viewers of STV’s established line-up of TV programs such as Auto Focus, Motoring Today and Business & Leisure.

Kintanar said that, “FBDC is happy to host such a distinguished event as the Auto Focus Motor Show and certainly the Bonifacio Global City has time and again proven to be an ideal venue and setting for the automobile industry to conduct public displays and test drives.” Gamboa added, “This has been and will again be the mother of all motor shows held at the Fort Bonifacio area. We are glad to be returning to where all this began four years ago.”

It will be the fourth annual staging of this event organized by STV. Gamboa explained, “This year’s grand motor show will have greater participation from the country’s automobile manufacturers and distributors than in the previous years. Various models from Audi, Chery, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Jeep, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota and Volvo will be on display, and a select but wide choice of models will be available for test drives.” With November being a peak buying month, BPI Family Savings Bank will be at the venue with special financing offers for visitors who are looking for a model to buy.

“Furthermore,” Gamboa added, “there will be a host of other special activities during the exhibition.” The public can enjoy the seven-day “Music at the Motor Show” series of daily performances at the Central Entertainment Area of the motor show grounds where some of Manila’s leading adult music bands like Route 70, Shift, Highway 54, Flintstones and the Gang, and MOBB are scheduled to perform along with acoustic groups that will perform a special Christmas repertoire.”

Also on tap is a Gymkhana Precision Driving Competition, a non-racing event that will be a test of driving skill and safety awareness over a defined course, which any driver with a driver’s license can enter. A special tie-up with Toyota Motor Philippines, Honda Safety Driving Center and Goodyear Philippines will allow participants to drive the course in the Toyota Vios. Drivers can compete for a nominal fee and perhaps drive away with a trophy and other prizes.

Another feature will be a Customized/Trick Car Competition wherein owners of such automobiles will display and compete with one another for best showroom finish and overall quality of workmanship. Gamboa stressed, “This time however, the visiting public in lieu of a panel of judges will vote and select the winners!”

The event will also host public on-site voting for the “Petron Auto Focus People’s Choice Awards,” an ongoing nationwide nine-month nationwide public poll to determine the country’s most popular automobile makes and models. The poll, conducted on www. autofocus.com.ph and on-site during select provincial legs of the BPI Family Savings Bank “Auto Madness” motor shows, will culminate on November 30 with the people’s choice for “Automobile of the Year” as well as “Model of the Year” awards in 12 categories.
