Urbanites’ delight. The Demak Smart R 125 easily beats the sting of fuel prices and is a fun way to move around the metropolis.

TODAY’S expensive gas prices, indiscriminate diggings and chaotic metropolitan traffic make getting around the city not as enjoyable as it once was.  Driving a car from one place to another has now turned into a test of patience and luck, as well as a drain on one’s financial resources.

In the process, many motorists are shifting to motorcycles to get around this problem, discovering what veteran motorcyclists have known for quite some time: two-wheeling is a smart, fun and economical way to go around the city.

Demak, the Malaysian motorcycle brand, responded to this demand by offering a smarter way to ride around the metropolis with their best-selling underbone commuter, the Smart R 125.

Powered by an air-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder 125-cc motor, the Smart R 125 is an easy-on-the-pocket mode of transportation for urbanites who value their mobility without compromising their individual styles.

Body panels are sculptured to provide some form of elemental protection for the rider and are shaped to provide a form of aesthetic individualism, making the Smart R 125 stand out in a sea of base model underbone commuters. Paint finish and panel fit is on a par with more up-market models while the list of standard equipment will put the other up-market models to shame.

The Demak Smart R 125 comes equipped with elegant, polished six-spoke 17-inch cast alloy wheels shod with a 2.25-17 street tire up front and a 2.50-17 tire at the back. A front fork suspension and dual rear coil-over shock absorbers keep road undulations at a minimum while a front-slotted disc brake with dual piston calipers and a rear drum brake keeps the speed on check.

The 125-cc motor works with a rotary four-speed manual transmission and an automatic clutch to delivering power through a robust chain-and-sprocket drive train, allowing the rider to smartly accelerate from stops with the confidence that the bike will not only keep up with traffic, but also leave 110-cc weaklings behind. Exhaust gases pass through a large chrome-finished muffler that ensures compliance with Euro 2 emission standards. The motor’s substantial torque characteristics also allow the rider to lug the motor in fourth gear at low speeds and promise to return a more-than-decent fuel economy for those seeking to beat the spiraling fuel costs.

The Demak Smart R 125 is a bargain at P43,000. Of course, there are cheaper models out there, but many of them are simply just that—cheap. At its price, the Smart R 125 comes with all the up-market features earlier described, which would cost more if these were added to the base price of the Smart R 125’s nearest competitor.

The Demak Smart R 125 comes from Malaysia and is made at the Demak Laut Industrial Estate in Kuching, Sarawak. Demak motorcycles are exported to Indonesia and the Philippines while Asia’s strong demand for Malaysian motorcycles represents at least 86 percent of the Demak’s global sales.

So, if you’re in the market for an affordable motorcycle to smartly ride around the city, consider this Malaysian import. It’s assembled in the Philippines and it helps create jobs for our countrymen. And that is another good reason, if not a patriotic reason, for buyers to consider the Demak Smart R 125.

Demak Motor Manufacturing Philippines Inc. is located at Lot 1, Block 2, Phase IV, Sterling Industrial Park, barangay Iba, Meycauayan, Bulacan. Call (632) 466-1220 and (044) 935-4033 or visit www.demakmotor.com for more information.
