    Dingdong rings bells

EVERYBODY apparently continues to be gaga over the disrobing event masquerading as a fashion show that was Bench Blackout. Obviously, the one who stood out among the rest of the male busybodies was Dingdong Dantes.

This even earned the ire of Anabelle Rama, mother-manager of Richard Gutierrez, who seemingly received a not-too-enthusiastic response from the crowd, as if he was just one of the male models showing their, uhm, shortcomings.

Then there was the absence of Piolo Pascual, who, in the weekend cover story in the BusinessMirror and in several interviews, reasoned out that it was never in his contract to strut on the runway with nary a stitch of clothing on.

Now, who gets to benefit from being there and not complaining at all?

Dantes, according to word going around, has been eyed by the California-based E! Entertainment Television to be included on its upcoming list of 25 Sexiest Men of the World. Well, conventional thinking would suggest that Dantes’s controversial near-naked billboards on Edsa may be responsible for the, uhm, distinction, along with his preening in several glossy magazines with only his underwear on. And there’s the top-rating Dyesebel on GMA. But according to a local entertainment web site, it was actually Dantes’s innocuous commercials for a pain medicine that got the attention of E!. The researchers wasted no time contacting the manager of “Dingdong Dantes of the Philippines” and the rest is history unfolding.

Dantes is the only Filipino celebrity to be included on their list and he will be featured in one of the special segments of E! The list includes UK football legend David Beckham.

Dantes as an international male celebrity?

We wonder what Pascual and Gutierrez are thinking this time.

    Still on Dingdong...and Piolo

RECENT photographs of Dingdong Dantes and Piolo Pascual together in a forthcoming TV commercial involving the popular skin-cleansing cream Ponds has found its way on the Net. It was reported that both heartthrobs of the duelling TV networks were surprised those photos came out too soon. Dantes said they should have been released early September, together with the showing of the TV campaign.

Dantes and Pascual have previously worked together in several fashion shows but it is only now that they’re being featured in a TV commercial together. Dantes is popularly paired with GMA’s most prized female talent, Marian Rivera, while Pascual with GMA’s once-most-prized leading lady Angel Locsin. Now, the photos are out. There’s nothing controversial though. Those shots only have the two guys dressed in elegant suits, looking for the most ideal Ponds’ girl as their date.

Then again, many have commented in several blogs that Dantes and Pascual look good together onscreen. Any girl would have palpitations if she’s squeezed between the two.

    Seriously.
