    17th Mindanao business meet
    opens today in Dipolog City

ZAMBOANGA CITY—For businessmen and other concerned stakeholders, all roads lead today, Wednesday, to Dipolog City, the capital of Zamboanga del Norte, the venue of the 17th Mindanao Business Conference (Minbizcon).

Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) regional governor Edwin Capili said Tuesday at least 350 stakeholders have confirmed their attendance to the 17th Minbizcon scheduled from Wednesday until Friday.

The number of participants could, however, increase since there are more stakeholders that are expected to make their last-minute confirmation to the confab.

Capili said the host, the Dipolog Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), headed by Edgar Bagarinao, has the full backing of Zamboanga del Norte provincial government, headed by Gov. Rolando Yebes, as well as the cities of Dipolog and Dapitan, headed by Mayors Evelyn Uy and Dominador Jalosjos Jr., respectively, that are all cosponsors of the three-day business conference.

Capili said the DCCI is all set to receive the delegates and guests who would arrive for the 17th Minbizcon, with the theme “One Global Filipino: Making Public-Private Partnership Work for Mindanao’s Economic Development.”

The annual Minbizcon is the platform of the Mindanao business community to express its issues and concerns, which are effectively captured and integrated into what is called the “Mindanao Business Policy Agenda.”

The Minbizcon is, likewise, an opportunity for the local governments and the business community to package the area as an ideal investment and tourism destination in Mindanao.

The event will highlight the business and investment opportunities in the host area together with the tourist attractions of the place.

The topics to be tackled during the three-day conference include business and investment opportunities in Zamboanga del Norte; strengthening public-private sector support to agribusiness development; improving logistics for the agribusiness sector;  connecting Mindanao to the world; and others.

The Minbizcon is dubbed as the biggest annual gathering of the business community of Mindanao and also the official Area Business Conference of the PCCI.
