AFTER
Philips Electronics stopped making plasma TVs in 2006,
it’s now back with an all-new LCD (liquid crystal
display) flat TV lineup, boasting sleek design, advanced
motion engine capability and customizable image
enhancements intended for “immersive sensory
experience.”
“LCD is
the new technology for TV where Philips is putting money
and research,” said Rico Gonzales, CEO of Philips
Electronics and Lighting Inc. during the product launch
held Thursday at Mandarin Hotel in Makati.
But in
spite of the increasing popularity of LCD TV models, the
Netherlands-based company still sells CRT (cathode-ray
tube) TV units. “We still have the CRT units but only on
a manageable level to cater the consumer demands,”
explained Ria Nuñez, manager and head product management
of Philips Consumer Electronics.
To prove
that their new offerings are unmatched, Philips
executives compared their unit with other brands and
scrutinized both viewing aspects such as sound,
brightness, sharpness, contrast, etc. before the press.
“We dare
to compare our LCD TVs to units that are sold in the
market today; because we believed it possessed
everything a discriminating consumer wants,” assumed
Nuñez.
On top
of motion performance, the LCD TVs are built with
perfect pixel High-Definition Engine that can process a
resolution of 500 million pixels per second.
In
addition, Nuñez pointed out that, “Our units have
subwoofers and acoustic chambers. All are built with
30-watt high-power digital amplifier.”
The 5000
series retails for P54,990, the new 7000 at P129,990
while the 9000 series sells for P189,900. |
