    Michael Dimalanta ruled the men’s contest and Elizabeth Stern topped the women’s side in the recent 2008 Philippine National Championship Figure Skating at the SM International Skating Rink of the Mall of Asia.    

                    Twenty-three skaters, including five Filipino-Americans, saw action in five finals events of the tournament organized and sponsored by SM and sanctioned by Philippine Skating Union and sponsored by Pepsi, Power Mac Center, Mossimo and the Star.  

                    The tournament, one of several sports events organized by SM annually, achieved its purpose of drawing several young participants who could be honed for competitions abroad.

                    Alyssa Kate Comia topped the Juvenile-Ladies class with an impressive score of 39.20. Shaira Myron Salardo (37.67) placed second and Dianne Riesgo (34.07) third.

                    Jules Vince Alpe ruled the Juvenile-Men category, while Janelle Santos won the Intermediate level, with Julia Maria Ignacio and Ysabel Viktoria finishing second and third, respectively.

                    Paulina Michelle Ong topped the Novice level, beating Chelcea Jo Mahinay and Katherine Louise Miller. In Junior-Men, Dikki John Martinez finished first and John Samuel Minas second, while Katherine Dano lorded it over the Junior-Ladies division, pushing Kathryn Victory Magno to second and Mikaela Victoria Lopez to third place.
